Relocating to a new office can sometimes be a little stressful – but follow are top tips and make the task organised and trouble free.
Every year we deliver hundreds of desk, chairs and other office supplies to businesses across the country – and beyond.
And it is Warehouse Manager Ben Atwal who make sure everything gets to where it is supposed to be.
After 15 years with Chrisbeon Ben has supervised deliveries of all sizes – and to all sorts of destinations.
“Last year we went to Paris to deliver supplies for a full office,” he says. “The company has branches here in Kidderminster and Cambridge and was opening a new office in France.
“We kitted out both of their UK offices and they wanted to work with us again, so two vans went out to Paris for three days.”
And it is not only furniture the Chrisbeon vans deliver – it came in very useful during a charity bike ride Ben completed for Cancer Research.
He said: “We were doing a charity ride to Barmouth and needed a van to carry all of the kit for the bikers and everything we would need along the way, owners Richard and Craig donated a van for us to use throughout the trip, we couldn’t have done without it.”
When he is not out and about Ben deals with the supplies and the orders, sorts out any problems, returning any damaged items to suppliers and booking in the deliveries.
“We deliver the majority of furniture ourselves or when there are larger jobs the suppliers deliver and we meet them there to make sure everything is correct and goes in the right place,” he adds.
But what is the favourite bit of Ben’s job role?
“It is my job to get all of the furniture out to people so when I get to see how the room looks when the furniture is in it’s great, it transforms the office space and it’s great to know I have had a hand in bringing it all together.”
Having a peek behind the scenes of a business always reveals more than you would expect. (more…)
The prestige of furnishing Shrewsbury Town Football Club’s new training base has gone to Chrisbeon of Shrewsbury and Telford.
They were awarded the six and a half thousand pound contract to supply all the furniture for the spacious training ground at Sundorne Castle on the northern outskirts of town.
Physio Chris Skitt contacted Chrisbeon’s Shrewsbury premises in Lancaster Road to ask whether they would be interested in producing joint plans for the facilities which include rooms for the manager and coaches as well as a canteen.
Said Chris; “When I contacted Richard Hughes at the Chrisbeon Shrewsbury office I was delighted that he agreed to us working together and his kind work has been fundamental in getting a brilliant training facility which we have today.
“We were delighted with the selection of opportunities that Chrisbeon could provide and we have worked jointly together on the project.”
The canteen has nine tables and 35 chairs and the coaches room has six desks and chairs as well as filing cabinets and a sofa. In the manager’s office there is an executive desk and a round table with four meeting chairs.
Chrisbeon has also supplied physio stools and a small range of their Pre-Loved nearly new furniture.
Said Richard: “As I live in Shrewsbury and support Shrewsbury Town by attending home games whenever I can, it was really good to be involved with the new training ground and to see behind the scenes at the facilities.
“I was very impressed with how the new building has been fitted out inside, especially with the gym and of course the manager’s office which Chrisbeon has kitted out.”

We were really pleased to wave off some of our desks to a new, very worthwhile, home at a Shropshire charity.
A Telford woman is celebrating the completion of 30 years with a local business.
Elaine Pratt joined Chrisbeon Office Supplies when the firm was originally based in premises at Priorslee.
She made the transfer with Chrisbeon to Stafford Park and as a consequence has become the longest-serving employee with the office furniture and stationery suppliers.
Elaine, 57, of St. Georges, is a ‘Girl Friday’ at Chrisbeon, handling stationery sales, answering the phone, greeting visitors to the showroom and serving customers.
In recognition of her loyal service, Elaine is seen being presented with a bouquet by partners Richard and Craig Hughes – sons of the founders but neither as long serving as Elaine who said: “It was a lovely surprise when I came into work to find my desk with a bouquet of flowers and balloons.
“I have made some very good friends, well maybe some, over the 30 years I have been with Chrisbeon For one colleague said I had been with Chrisbeon for 30 years but still did not know where the vending machine was!”
Thousands of charities across Shropshire are working hard every day to raise money for their cause.

Left to right: Chamber Patrons Nick Jones and Craig Hughes, Kelda Wood, Chamber Patron Richard Hughes and Chamber Chief Executive Richard Sheehan.
Shropshire Chamber Patron Chrisbeon has unveiled the charity the Telford and Shrewsbury-based company will be supporting for the next 12 months.
Formed seven years’ ago, Climbing Out works with young people facing life changing injury, illness or trauma.
After suffering a life changing leg injury herself in 2002, founder Kelda Wood, 44, set up the charity following the dramatic effect the outdoors had on her own physical and mental recovery.
As a result, Climbing Out now runs five day residential outdoor activity programmes which aim to help re-build confidence and self-esteem in young people whose lives have been affected by a serious injury, illness or trauma.
Said Chrisbeon partner Richard Hughes: “As one of the Patron companies of Shropshire Chamber, we are delighted to get involved with the latest development in our Patron programme.
“This involves each Chamber Patron adopting a charity for the year and Chrisbeon is delighted to be involved with the Climbing Out charity and the good work that Kelda and her team are doing both locally and nationally in helping young people who have been through a life changing injury, illness or trauma.
“Each charity that has been nominated by a Patron receives free Chamber membership for the year along with the help and support of the total Patron and Chamber network, hopefully along with many other exciting ways we can work together during the year.”
Chrisbeon, Shropshire’s leading supplier of office furniture and stationery, is based at Stafford Park, Telford, and Lancaster Road, Shrewsbury.
Said Kelda, who has climbed two of the world’s highest peaks, Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua, on crutches: “As Climbing Out has grown, we need a much stronger network of support and contacts.
“Networking is most important and we need to meet people to build our network of contacts.
“For Climbing Out to run successfully we need to have this solid foundation in place that will support us to do the life changing work we do. I’m sure the new partnership will be a massive help towards us raising awareness and getting the support that our structure needs to continue doing its life-saving work.”
Kelda runs the charity from her home on the Shrewsbury to Montgomery Road.
Said Richard Sheehan, Shropshire Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive: “Shropshire Chamber is totally committed to making a positive difference within the business and wider communities of our county.
“Our Patrons’ support is vital, allowing us to do more than we otherwise could and we are delighted with the response we have received, helping us to support the 3rd sector and the fantastic work they do on the ground.”
Leading Shropshire office furniture supplier Chrisbeon has been commissioned by Caradoc Medical Services to assist in their move to new facilities in Shrewsbury.
Chrisbeon, as an approved supplier to the Caradoc group, delivered new office furniture – and moved some existing items from their previous premises in Longbow Close, Harlescott Lane, Shrewsbury – to St. Julian’s Friars where they are now based.
“We part exchanged some items of office furniture which wouldn’t fit into the new building,” said Chrisbeon partner Richard Hughes whose Shrewsbury operation in Lancaster Road assisted with Caradoc’s move across town.
“As a result, we shall prepare these items, which we originally supplied a few years’ ago now, for our Pre-Loved furniture department in Telford.
“In total, we supplied Caradoc with new furniture, we part exchanged some items and moved existing furniture,” he added.
Said Caradoc’s Business Manager Peter Masters: “As one of our group’s approved suppliers, we have a long-standing relationship with Chrisbeon and once again they demonstrated their commitment to assisting us and setting us up in our new premises.”
A leading Shropshire office supplies business is supporting a county charity by kitting out a new building for the children in its care.
Chrisbeon, suppliers of office furniture, seating and office stationery, provided Christ Church Pre-School Nursery, in Bayston Hill, with supplies for a new purpose-built building.
Richard Hughes, partner of Chrisbeon who have office furniture showrooms in Telford and Shrewsbury, welcomed nursery manager Diane Scoggins to their Telford showroom to choose a desk, chair, drawers and shelves.
“The nursery committee approached us to ask for help in kitting out a new building which is currently being constructed,” said Mr Hughes.
“We were very pleased to be able to assist and hope that the furniture will help this charity pre-school in providing a great new space for the children they look after.”
Christ Church, an Ofsted Outstanding setting, is based on the Oakmeadow School site at Longmeadow and staff will use the building as a break-out area for the nursery’s pre-school children.
Mrs Scoggins said: “We are so grateful to all of the parents, Oakmeadow School and the local businesses like Chrisbeon who have helped make this new building a reality.
“Christ Church is a committee-run nursery that encourages parents to become fully involved in nursery life.
“This new building will be an extremely welcome addition as it will be used to meet with parents as well as for the children to have one to one time with their key workers and as a break-out area for our pre-schoolers to enjoy activities and school preparation learning.
“The children are so excited, as are the staff, we cannot wait to put it to use.”
The building is due to be finished this month (FEBRUARY) and the nursery is planning an official launch once it is complete.
Christ Church takes children between two and five years and the setting also supports children who have learning difficulties and disabilities and those who speak English as a second language.
“This new room will benefit all of the children who attend Christ Church and we look forward to welcoming many more new faces in 2017,” added Mrs Scoggins.
The nursery recently rebranded and unveiled a new website at www.christchurchpreschoolnursery.co.uk which parents can visit for more information.
Boxing Day will be a special day at the Shrewsbury store of home business furniture and stationery company Chrisbeon.
For they will open the doors at their Lancaster Road premises in Harlescott for the first time since expanding and moving into the unit as part of their expansion.
Chrisbeon was previously a concessionaire of Alan Ward and although still connected to their premises now have their own access from Lancaster Road.
“We are actually looking forward to opening on Boxing Day for the first time because we think there will be potential buyers for our range of home business furniture,” said partner Richard Hughes.
“It’s also an opportunity for visitors to pick up some bargains,” he added.
